
Kate Hudson is a talented actor, best-known for her part as Penny Lane in the Hollywood film Almost Famous which brought her an Academy Award nomination. Born into a family of film stars and actors, she was destined for limelight as a young girl. Her mother Goldie Hawn is a well-known film actor, and her father Bill Hudson is a comedian. She was an avid performer at a young age, and was always eager to take advantage of any chance to perform on the stage. Her parents made sure she got dancing classes, and she took classes at the Santa Monica Playhouse as a child. In 1996, she began acting when she was offered a character in the TV drama Party of Five. Although she was accepted to New York University, Kate Hudson was more interested pursuing a career as an entrepreneur in showbiz rather than the pursuit of a degree. After appearing in a couple of minor films in the past, she was offered a role which would become the focus of her career. She was cast as Penny Lane in the comedy-drama film Almost Famous. Even though the film was unsuccessful at the box office it was well received by critics and resulted in Kate an international star in the American film industry.
